A new year has arrived. While I am typing this update, Sarah is busy working on a new layout for this site and adding some photos of Mom for you all to see. She's also adding some photos of Mom's hibiscus plants. Mom has been lost lately without the flowers. Dad didn't want them in the apartment so we brought them to our place so they wouldn't freeze at night. Once the cold nights pass, we will take them back to her.
I am sorry I haven't posted much lately. As many of you already know, I was experiencing diverticulitis problems this past fall and finally, this past week had part of my colon removed. In addition, we moved from the apartment into a new house on the 15th of December so I had to pack and unpack as much as I could before the surgery. And of course, Christmas fell in there as well. I cannot do any lifting, pushing or pulling for a couple of weeks now so I am planning to do more writing and will try to catch everyone up on how things have been going with Mom. Please keep her in your prayers. At this point, though, I believe Dad needs your prayers more than Mom does. While we know all of the things that she doesn't remember or isn't doing the way she used to do them, she isn't aware of them at all and is at the moment at least, perfectly healthy and happy. Dad is struggling. He has to watch her through these changes day in and day out. If he even steps out of the apartment to smoke, she is out wanting to know where he is or what he is doing. His WHOLE life right now is caring for her. He recently told me that he feels like he is just sitting in this apartment, waiting to die. He really needs our prayers right now.
Hope everyone has a very happy new year and enjoy the photos that are being added. If any of you have any 'older' photos of Mom that you would like to share, please email them to me or Sarah and we will put them up.
